Why? Not just because YHB helps you design your own accounting firm career path and gives you the training, guidance, and technology you need to move ahead, but because you also become part of a team that enjoys working together, playing together and succeeding together — and giving back to the communities we serve, too.
The first year associate experience provides an opportunity to work in a variety of areas rather than focus heavily in any one area. New graduates are not forced to decide between audit and tax; they can experience both first before deciding how to specialize!
From day one, you’ll belong to a “circle” of firm members who collaborate on a variety of stimulating projects. As a result, you’ll be exposed to many types of accounting-related work in both audit and tax practice areas, so you can see which are most appealing to you. Plus, you’ll constantly build your skills and knowledge by working with more experienced team members. Before long, you’ll be sharing what you know with new recruits, so you can move up to new challenges.
During that first year, new associates are:
Of course, we also offer excellent compensation, great benefits, flexible schedules, and a paperless, high-tech work environment. We’re not afraid to wear pink for breast cancer, have a firm-wide dodge ball game, hold employee trivia contests, compete in an internal meme competition, among other fun events. Of course we recycle and practice energy efficiency, and volunteer with Habitat for Humanity, United Way, and other nonprofit organizations. Not to mention our employees are able to volunteer their time to professional and nonprofit boards and organizations that fulfill their personal passions.
Don’t just take our word for it. Visit our offices, talk to our people and see for yourself why so many talented graduates like you join our firm — and stay.
Each summer, we offer a competitive eight-week paid internship program for a number of college students who are about to enter their senior year or begin their master’s program. If you’re selected to be a YHB intern, here’s what you can expect:
In addition, you’ll be assigned a “buddy” (someone who’s been with our firm for about a year) who will introduce you to other firm members, check in with you about the projects you work on, take you to lunch, and be a resource person you can come to for help in getting information you need, as well as to talk to about any questions or issues you have.
We interview for interns in the fall, and those we hire typically work the following summer from mid-June to mid-July. If you’re interested in this great opportunity to see what it’s like to be part of the YHB community, apply through your campus career services.
Who is eligible?
Our three day, two night externship program in late May is designed to give you leadership skills essential for succeeding in the accounting world! You’ll get a taste of what it’s like to be a team member at YHB while putting your leadership and networking skills to the test! Over the three days, you’ll work in teams on a tax and assurance project, and you’ll participate in a community service project. The externship is great to meet many people at YHB, hear about their success and network further over dinner. After successful completion of the program, externs are eligible for YHB’s Internship the following summer.
