Winchester, VA (July 20, 2017) — Yount, Hyde and Barbour (YHB) says a fond farewell to a dozen interns as their 2017 Summer Internship program comes to an end.
YHB is holding its annual celebratory send off for their summer interns on the rooftop of the Discovery Museum in Winchester on Thursday, July 20th. Will Murphy, YHB’s Training Manager explained, “YHB’s summer internship provides an opportunity for college students majoring in accounting to gain hands on experience in a large regional firm, and also gain insight into YHB’s culture and people.” The firm typically employs 8 to 12 summer interns for 6 weeks who will be based in three of the firm’s seven locations: Winchester, Leesburg and Richmond.
“50% of the Firm’s entry level Associates are hired directly from the firms internship program, and they have the highest long term retention with the firm,” said Neile Martin, YHB’s Director of Human Resources. “The museum rooftop is an ideal location for this event; it showcases what the Winchester area and community offers for young professionals, and the perfect venue to enjoy a summer evening.”
YHB offers two opportunities for aspiring accountants to get hands on experience in the Public Accounting world. The first is a summer externship, which is open to college sophomores and juniors interested in pursuing a career in accounting. The two day, one night externship program is designed to quickly expose students to the diverse world of public accounting and life at YHB. The summer internship is a competitive six-week paid internship program for college students who are about to enter their senior year or begin their master’s program. Participants get real world experience and training with some receiving job offers at the end of the program. Students come from a variety of colleges and universities throughout Virginia, West Virginia, and Maryland area.
Interns and YHB staff members will gather on the roof of the Winchester Discovery Museum for the ceremonial end of internship celebration and thank you.
